Angela Davis once said, “I’m no longer accepting the things I cannot change…I’m changing the things I cannot accept.” In reading this quote it is understandable as to why Kadijah would like to meet Ms. Davis one day. As stated by Kadijah, “I want to talk about being a black woman and an activist with her

[Angela]. I’m curious to know her philosophy on combating racism and sexism while finding time to care for yourself.” It is a wonder why Kadijah is a recipient of so many prestigious awards and at a young age.

Earlier this year Kadijah was awarded the Princeton Prize in Race Relations where she was among a group of 27 high school students around the country chosen to receive the award based on their work concerning race relations. It was her creating a documentary regarding race at her school and being an integral part in organizing various rallies that garnered attention by the program. In addition to her award from Princeton, Kadijah was also awarded The Next Generation MLK Jr. Leadership Award, the Mayors Award for Leadership and Sports and her 2014 Compassionate Achiever Award.

Style and grace are other qualities that Kadijah possesses. Her favorite item in her closet is a pencil skirt in which she describes it as “a staple for the business casual crowd,” that “goes with everything.”

We at Positive Images are looking forward to all of the accomplishments Kadijah will make and wish her well in her endeavors at UC Santa Cruz.
